Patrol Division

The patrol division is often called the backbone of the Sheriff’s Office. The patrol deputies are the most visible division of the office and are generally the first agency called by the public in need in rural Eau Claire County. Patrol personnel are the first responders to medical emergencies, traffic crashes, crimes against persons and property as well as serving as a deterrent to those who may commit violations on the highways and in your
neighborhoods.

The patrol division provides the primary response for all emergency services provided by the Sheriff’s Office.
There are nineteen patrol deputies and three supervisors who work in the division. In addition to the nineteen on patrol we have a canine unit. Many of the deputies have specialties such as the canine program, drug and alcohol enforcement and investigation, crash investigation, equipment enforcement and SWAT. Each patrol
car has the equipment to handle the deputy’s needs as well as emergency equipment to assist anyone in need from a band-aid to a defibrillation unit.

The office assists all other law enforcement agencies operating within the county. This includes all of the local police departments, the Wisconsin State Patrol, Department of Natural Resources and the Wisconsin
Department of Justice.
